The National Development Finance Agency (NDFA), part of the National Treasury Management Agency (NTMA), is pleased to announce today the appointment of BAM PPP PGGM as preferred tenderer in the development of four new courthouses and the refurbishment and extension of three existing court buildings.
The €135 million (ex-VAT) project is a public private partnership (PPP) set to deliver upgraded courthouse facilities in seven different regions around Ireland. The project forms part of the Irish Government’s €2.25 billion Infrastructure Stimulus Programme announced in 2012.
The new courthouse buildings will be developed in Drogheda, Letterkenny, Limerick and Wexford and refurbishment and extension works will be carried out to existing courthouses in Cork, Mullingar and Waterford.
The NDFA’s role in this project is as the procuring body and financial adviser for and on behalf of the Courts Service.
Commenting on the Courts Bundle PPP project, Brian Murphy, Director of the NDFA said “We are pleased to be working on this important upgrade to the States courthouse facilities which are expected to deliver broad improvements and efficiencies including reduced waiting times and a reduction in litigation costs. We were very encouraged by the quality of tender submissions received for this development and congratulate BAM on their appointment”.
Construction is expected to commence in November 2015 with final delivery due by November 2017.
Enterprise Ireland in conjunction with the NDFA and the preferred tenderer will run a Meet the Buyer networking event during Q3 2015 to provide information on supply chain opportunities for SME companies interested in becoming involved in the project. Details of the event will be published on the NDFA and Enterprise Ireland websites in due course.
The NDFA is responsible for delivering €650 million of PPP projects as part of the Infrastructure Stimulus Programme. In May 2015, the NDFA announced the appointment of Prime Balfour Beatty as preferred tenderer for the Primary Care PPP. Grangegorman DIT PPP is also in preferred tenderer stage. Schools Bundle 4 PPP is in construction phase and tenders for Schools Bundle 5 PPP are due for submission later this month.
