On 12 March 2012, The Minister for Education & Skills, Ruarí Quinn T. D., announced details of 219 new major school building projects to begin over the following five years as part of a €2 billion capital investment programme. These new projects were in addition to 56 major school building projects that he had already announced for 2012.
To assist the Department of Education and Skills (DoES) in the delivery of the required additional capacity, the DoES and the NDFA agreed that part of the development programme would be procured and delivered by the NDFA, acting on behalf of the DoES.
The NDFA (Non-PPP) schools programme consisted of a mix of new builds, extensions and some remedial works to existing schools both at a primary and post primary level. The programme was divided into 3 bundles with two schools due to be delivered as standalone projects. Click here for a geographical representation of the entire NDFA (Non-PPP) schools programme.
