The aim of the Schools Programme is to deliver new schools in rapidly developing areas, to replace existing schools with new accommodation and provide new accommodation for schools that are an amalgamation of existing schools. The schools are to be delivered by way of Public Private Partnership contracts.
The Second Bundle consisted of six schools on five sites in counties Cork (a primary and post primary school sharing a single campus), Limerick, Kildare, Wicklow and Meath, providing accommodation for approximately 4,700 students.
Work commenced on the five sites in June 2010. All six schools were completed ahead of the respective Target Service Commencement Dates; the last of the schools was certified in October 2011 ahead of the Target Service Commencement Date of 03 November 2011.
